G'day guys, it's Den with episode 362 of the how to scale a video business podcast. And this week I'm doing a bit of a confession. And that confession is that, I've always maintained and everything we do that part of the raw honesty of the VBA is that we share what's working and what's not working.
And it's important that I'm honest with you and that you get authentic, true. And genuine insights into all aspects of running a business. And that includes this podcast. And so today I'm going to share what's working with this podcast just now and what's not working and what we're going to do about it.
Welcome to the video business accelerator podcast. Each week we uncover the secrets to creating a wildly successful and scalable video production business with your host. Den Lennie, discover how the accelerator program is transforming the lives of our members at www.videobusinessaccelerator.com. Enjoy this episode.
So we are, as I say, up to episode 362, I think. Let me just check here. You have 362. And we started this podcast back in 2019 and you know we've been producing content weekly and something's twice weekly since then. In fact January 2020 is when we first joined this platform so that's you know nearly five years.
And then that time we've had 120-odd thousand downloads in on this platform. Plus we had some with the old platform. You change platforms in a podcast, you lose all your stats. But what I think is interesting is we're always looking at new ways of innovating and inventing and trying to figure out, different ways of delivering value.
And back in August, and September, we went into the video mentors and clients of mine, and we decided to collaborate and share insights from different video businesses about what was working, what wasn't, and how those members have forged their own way, but it hasn't worked. We were looking at the stats today with my podcast producer martin and the truth is the views of flatlined.
In fact, they've been going down since we started this video mentors podcast. And so you know what we have to do is. Review that and say clearly this style of four-way sharing of insights in the podcast is not what you guys want to hear. And, I'm always talking about the importance of data and dashboards, and we've run this now for a good I don't know, five-odd months.
It's clearly not working. It's clearly not what you want to hear. And what's been interesting is the solo episodes and some of the episodes where I've interviewed someone directly have done better. And so I'm here to say we're changing it. We're going to figure out a new way. Now, one of my clients, Emma made a suggestion just the other day and she said then when you're on a coaching call with us, you have this ability to cut straight to the core of a problem, identify it, ask probing questions to help us to understand how to solve that problem.
And she said it would be great to see some podcasts like that. So we're going to try that and see if that's something that you want to listen to. Branson said Richard Branson said the most important two things in business are innovation and marketing and it's really important that we continually look at new ways to deliver this content.
So what I'm looking for from you is. If you are not a client of ours, or even if you are, I'm happy to work with clients as well. But if you are someone who has not done work with us directly and you don't feel like you're achieving what you do, Expect to be achieving your video business and perhaps your website is not converting.
Perhaps your funnel doesn't really exist, or perhaps you're not sure about your pricing. Then I want to offer you an opportunity to come on a recording with me. And we'll look at those problems together. Now, the caveat is that we will then record that and push that out as our podcast episodes and our YouTube themed chapters of effort where, you know, like a series because then that way I think two things will happen.
One is I'm really enjoying solving problems for videographers and their business. I've been doing it a long time. I'm good at it. And I can cut straight to the core problem you might be experiencing in your business. And so in order for that to happen, I need you to request it. So here's how I want to do this.
And this is just off the cuff, right? Just send an email to den@denlennie.com. with your details and I'll reach out and my team will reach out and connect with you and we'll line up a time to record. We might also try, some submissions so you can submit a video or a question on loom for us and maybe some links to your website and some things you're doing.
And we can do an episode like that. But really what I want to do is just try some new things and produce content that you will find useful and valuable that you can implement in your business straight away. As I say, this podcast has always been free. We don't have any sponsors. We simply create content because not everyone is in a position to join one of our paid programs.
And I think it's really important to give back and to share. great content for free as well that helps you to take that next step. And then maybe at some point in the future, you might feel ready to step into one of our paid programs and that's totally cool as well. So yeah. I just noticed as well on Buzzsprout, I think if you go to the website where on the Den Lennie website there will be a button.
On the actual podcast link itself, where you can send us a message. So yeah, try that. And yeah, I'm keen to hear from you. Where, what kind of content do you want us to cover? It would appear based on the data or the data, depending where you are, that long form interviews with filmmakers is what you want to see and hear more of.
So we will be doing more of that. If you've been listening for a while, thank you. One of the challenges with the podcast is that there's no direct feedback. We've got no way of knowing who's listening. Where you are or what you like. So I'm relying on you as a listener to just send me an email at den@denlennie.com or follow me on Instagram at den_lennie. I've started posting daily content on our reels and I'm committing to that for the next three months because I want to build that personal brand on Instagram. I'm working with a coach. I'm working with a mentor, And we're following a system because everything in business can be everything in business is repeatable.
Every type of video that goes viral can be repeated. There's a formula. So we're testing that right now. And then, as always, we'll test ourselves and then we'll get the results. And then they'll share that with our clients and also with you, our listeners. So that's my short message today. Not everything in business works, yeah.
And the idea for the video mentors podcast came from the behavior panel, which is a YouTube channel where four behavior specialists weigh in on various things that are happening in the world. And we thought it'd be a great format to have four independent voices sharing their journey in growing a filmmaking business, growing a video business, but the numbers tell us differently.
The numbers tell us that's not what you want to hear. And we're just, we're going to fess up. It's not working. So we're going to change it. And if you have any suggestions, please follow me on Instagram, flick me a DM and we can have a voicemail chat about that on Instagram. And in the meantime, keep on pushing out great work and I'll see you in the next episode. Once we figured out what we're gonna do next.
